This policy lays out the principles that underpin genuine and educationally sound effective assessment and reporting (A&R). It seeks to ensure appropriate purpose for A&R, effective implementation, and that workload is considered when designing the A&R to occur in a school.
This policy was endorsed by the Australian Education Union Victorian Branch Joint Primary and Secondary Sector Council July 2021.
This policy lays out the principles that underpin genuine and educationally sound effective assessment and reporting (A&R).
It seeks to ensure appropriate purpose for A&R, effective implementation, and that workload is considered when designing the A&R to occur in a school.
The policy places the profession at the centre of the development, implementation and consequences of A&R.
It also identifies some of the challenges related to trends in education, such as the use of technology to assess, record and store student data; and provides a framework and systems for schools to use to ensure that the A&R is developed for the benefit of the student along with understanding of the context for the teachers.
